The Puppet Theatre Peekaboo is a worldwide pioneer in the field of theatre for the very youngest audience - from 2 years. It was founded in 1977 and has until today performed 30 productions and almost 12 000 shows for around 900 000 spectators.

Our performances strive for clarity, simplicity, warmth, happiness and familiarity. We wish to meet our young audience with love and respect and make their very first theatre visit important and fun. Our stories appear to be very simple but under the surface ramify in many different directions. Our stories do always have an existential undercurrent of friendship, love, life, death – but from the perspective of a young child.

Visiting us should be a festivity, from the moment you enter until you leave our theatre. Our art is a mixed form of acting, using both puppets, actors and shadow puppetry. It enables us to have eye contact with our audience and gives the possibility to act in different dimensions. Puppetry has no limits – everything is possible.

The Puppet Theatre Peekaboo has done 44 tours around the world and performed in Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, Chuvashia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Japan, Morocco, Mexico, Norway, Russia, Spain, Tatarstan, The Philippines, Tunis, USA and Zimbabwe. On our tours we perform in English or in French.

The Puppet Theatre Peekaboo has received The Swedish Governments Grand Child and Youth Theatre Award and on several occasions been nominated to the theatre critics choice for best child play of the year. Our artistic director, Ing-Mari Tirén, has received both Stockholm City Price of Honour and Prix d`Assitej.
